It must be an aftermarket one that has the cap built onto the filter. You will just have to get another like it.
It looks like a little tit on the inside of the cap that is holding on the filter. Could I just pop that off? I have already distorted the old filter and can not just put it back in.
I wouldnt even try it. I dont think you could get the lid to seal properly. Be safe and run down to an oh-rye-lees or autozoo and get one with the cap on it. They are around $20.

Well you are right. I went for broke and thats what it did. Oh well the Kawi needs to be run anyway. Off to the stealer ship to spend $53.00 so I can use one of the Napa filters out of the case I bought!
Just got back and wanted to let anyone that has this problem that NAPA has the replacement lids for $11.69. Took advantage of being on the bike again and my route took me by a NAPA store and I thought I would give them a try, good move!
The replacement also has a 1" head that will be easy to remove and install.
So Napa had a replacement just plain lid, so you could use a regular filter with it, and reuse this new lid on each change? Handy info... in case my lid ever cracks... won't have to order one online or go to a dealer.
I know they sell the lids for that much, but I was shocked at how much just the WIX replacement filter costs. Its around $40 and then buy the lid.. Luckily I was able to stock up on quite a few with the lid built on.
