engine replacement?
heh guys, I've got a '99 PSD 3/ 300,000 miles. Up until recently truck ran very good. A few months ago it developed a miss, I carried it in and computer said I had a bad injector. Had injector rebuilt, miss is gone, but now truck emits blue smoke when engine is under load (flooring it) but not at idle or under normal driving.
Any idea what could be causing the smoke? rings, valve guides, etc?
Anyone know what it costs to rebuild one of these PSD's?
What is a fair price for a used PSD?
Anyone have any better ideas?
Thanks,
Bowedup

for 300,000 miles, i would say that the rings could be getting bad, but i would have you do a compression check and see what the static pressure is, cold and warm. i was thinking the injector tips could be muffed, shooting raw fuel out instead of a smoke-sized atom of fuel. this could cause low power, because the fuel (oil basically) is being sprayed out, it's not mixing with the air to make proper combustion. and when you inject more fuel, it only shoots more blue smoke. any odd noises or injector sounds?
