Hello,
I have A 1968 F-250 camper special. The cab mounts rusted out allowing the cab to contact the steering colunn damaging it.I would like to replace it with a tilt column. Does any one know if there is a column that will fit without major modifications? It has a 360 c.i.engine,power brakes, power steering, 4 speed, two wheel drive. Thanks
If you do go with a 78-9 column shoot me an email and I will email you the wiring diagrams and which wire goes where. I hav a 68 with a 78 column in it.

Russell, Would you send a copy to me at my address below. I could use the help when installing one in my 66.

I have changed my 72 to a 73 with shifter for automatic. The wiring changed a bit. I sure could use the diagram to get these wires straight. Thanks for the help.

One thing that I thought I would gain with a 78-79 tilt steering column would have the crush energy absorbing technology of the later steering columns. This would add a little bit of safety in case of a frontal crash, however this vintage doesn't have this energy absorbing feature. I haven't figured out if there is a way to go to a later year or otherwise get this energy absorbing feature incorporated into this tilt steering column.

So, instead of a 78-79 Truck Steering column, a 78-79 Lincoln steering column will fit a 72 F250 and have the energy absorbing feature. I will try and check this out.
Thanks.
Joe
