I have a 68 with a 240 6 cyl. The vaccum advance on the Dist has 2 vac connections with only one being used. Do i need to have both connected, have been told no, HELP. If so where are the proper connection points for them, and does it matter which I use if only one is needed. Truck runs OK but still has a little surge at highway speed. Also what is the proper timing settings. Thanks
The vacuum connection that sticks out the front of the diaphram unit is connected to carburetor vacuum port and the connection at the top of the diaphram is connected to manifold vacuum.
Manifold vacuum is high when the throttle is closed like when the engine is idling. This diaphram retards the dist.
Carb. vacuum is high when the thottle is open like when you are driving. This diaphram advances the dist. which I think will give you better gas milage.
I think you want to keep the carb. vacuum but the manifold vacuum is opional.
