Actually that test had nothing to do with SCT. It was put on by Ralph and a bunch of members for some diesel sites got together and did the 6.0L Shootout. All of those boxes where tested on the same dyno with the same truck on the same day. I would put up a link to the actual report but it is on another site and don't want to offend the mods here. If they will allow it then I will post a direct link to the shootout. How about it Mods???
Also just as an FYI... The SCT tunes were from two different custom tuners. One of them I don't believe (if memory serves me correctly) get a good run as the truck started acting up just before his run. There is another Shootout planned for June in the DFW area. They are also hoping to get some track time and do CP testing on the dyno. Email me if you want more info.
They are trying to show how great the SCT tuner is. One thing that I noticed is that SCT didn't meet their specified torque or hp claims. The Pred. exceeded them by a large number.
in terms of specified the predator falls short.
can you turn on pi? no
can you have a tow file with exhaust brake function? no
can you lock the convertor in 1-5? no
can you turn the egr off? no
and for the horse power junkies can you tune for injectors or turbo? no
has there been any claims of head gasket failure? i would say 20-1 the ratio to predator users.
not to mention that sct didnt have a base tune there.
tuners such as innovative, ats were there.
It was one of the best programmers I have ever used. I just decided to get the SCT Extreme because I had some extra cash. I think dollar for dollar it's the best out of the 4 that I have. Best bang for the buck.
There are stock 6.0's out there that have had head gasket failure towing normal loads within the manufacturers limits. Adding a tuner to this truck before the gaskets gave it up....would force a guy to say XXX tuner blew mh head gaskets.....even though like many of the bone stock trucks ....they were destined to blow with or without that tuner. I talked to a shop that worked on 2 tow trucks and one ambulance that were 100% stock F-350 trucks that blew head gaskets. The point is, you (Coogan1) may well have used some brand of tuner and had some sort of failure, but you do not really know if your engine was predestined to die, or if that tuner that has not damaged engines in thousands of other trucks....actually caused your issues.
