I am not sure which term is the correct to use but the rail that runs above the door and down the back side of it is rusted away on my 69 f-100. I grinded the rust out and I basically have no rail from the middle of the door down to the back side. Does anyone know if this piece is sold anywhere or am I going to have to find a sheet metal wizard to make it for me? If you look real close it is a seperate piece of metal just tacked to the cab so I would think that some place that sells panels would carry this. Any help would be appreciated!

There are alot of sheetmaetal places on the Net. I would start at JC Whitney. The stuff they have might be cheap but it is usually just as good. But, I have never seen a drip rail gutter thingy on there site but it would be worth a shot. Try David Carpenter, Macs Antique auto parts, and Mar-k quality parts. Good luck.
Do you have a chunk that is now removed from that truck?
Or do you have a hole along the piece? Either way, If you have a GOOD
body shop near you that does any amount of metal patching on bodys.
Then they would be able to remount or patch the area needed to get the rail back to normal. I'd really press the guy saying you REALLY want this back to stock form. You can find someone that will do it. There are good body people out there. Good Luck!
You mentioned a lot of places for sheet metal... but you didn't mention the very site you're posting on. Check out our online store for a huge selection of sheet metal. The only company you mentioned that supports this site is Macs.
BTW, I don't know of anyone that makes that stuff. Its generally not a replaced part and has to be frabricated or delicately removed from another truck. Railing from newer trucks can work too.
I believe this will be a junkyard item only... probably the cheapest way to go, too. Cut the old one loose and tack it back on to replace yours.
I just acquired the drip rail chrome, getting ready to try installing it... any suggestions, anyone?

re: Rusted drip rails. Are you planning a true 100% correct restoration? If yes then you have to get a donor cab and cut old one out and take the upper part of your cab apart from the lower part an insert the drip rail and re weld, and finish. A better and cheaper solution, that I just had done on my '67, shave the thing off. It looks better, and saved time & money. CACWBY in WI (I have a rolling chassis everybody, and all the metals been painted!!!)
Do you have any pictures of it shaved? I am starting to repair mine and it is a real pain. It involves a lot of work and I'm not sure that it will look good when I am done.
Take a look at my project, I had the same problem and chose to remove the rail for a cleaner look. I've got some good close up shots on the body repair section. Here's the link http://www.clubfte.com/users/bandit99/Bodypics.html Hope this helps....Trey
