I saw this on a website and was wondering if anyone had this? I personally cant see anything out the back when its dark out due to my tints and just overall being dark outside. Since I have manual windows, I have to slide over to the passenger side, roll down the window, roll down my window and roll them back after backing out (tints refrain me from seeing the side mirrors-OEM back up bulb isnt the brightest). So I came across this unique thing. It mounts over or on, which ever one you choose, and has two lights on it. http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.a.../categoryid/26
I ordered one from Sears, and when it came in, sent it right back. It seemed too chintzy for such a nice truck...like it wouldn't last a year.
I bought Hella driving lamps and mounted them to the frame rails under the bumper. Used a new heavy-gauge wire to feed a relay I hid under the left rear lens. The old reverse light wire energizes the relay and lights the Hellas.
Then, just for kicks, made my former reverse lights amber turn signals. Now the red lights are for brakes and tail only, the ambers are for turns and hazards (4-ways).
The Hellas are nice and bright, I angled them slightly outward to spread the pattern.
Have some pics in my gallery (Flareside tail end mod).

Hey Don....Not sure who does your State inspection...but you do know this is illegal in Pennsylvania? All Lights On the Front of the Vehicle are to be AMber in color with the exception of Head lights and driving lights. Everything in the rear is to be red. This also includes all reflectors also.
Just thought I would give you a heads up on that before you tote your rig in for the yearly. If they are actually paying attention to what they are doing they will fail you.
Oh and is300WRX when are ya going to get power windows put in...you have everything else. Its very easy to do and most kits already come with the wiring harnesses all you really have to do is pick out your switches.
As a PA certified inspection mechanic, I would pass the amber turns in the rear. Amber is allowed on the rear for turns only. Many new vehicles come from the factory with amber turns in the rear. As long as they are only 4 ways and turns I wouldn't see any reason to fail them.

I would love to do it. But it seems pretty hard...I mean im sure you have to some how install levers and what not...Can you give me some info on where to buy and how to install? I heard of people not too happy with aftermarket kits due to its speed...
Spiggy...I chk'd into it with a PA insp tech, and he saw no problem. It's passed inspection since the mod. But you're right, could be illegal in some states to mod it like that. Since my other car had amber turn signals in the rear, I figured it'd be OK.
is300...it really was easy to do. If you just want to add reverse lights, buy the Hella FF75's I got. They come with the relay. For the power, I tapped off my factory hitch plug. If you don't have the factory harness, no problem. Go to the main fuse box (r/h pass sidewall kick panel), and locate the socket for relay R05 (trailer tow), it should be empty. R05 is the large socket in the middle of the lower row of relays. Terminal 86 is the 12vdc (hot in strat/run) on the right side, and it is already "overload protected".
Buy a couple "spade" terminals and a 20A in-line fuse holder (just to be safe), along with 25' of 12-ga wire, some butt splices, and an E-Z tap.
Crimp the spade terminal onto the fuse holder and splice the 25' to it. DON'T PLUG IT IN TIL YOU'RE DONE!!! Run the wire under the dash to the drivers side and down the kick panel. Pull up the door sill lower trim (just pops out), pull up a little bit of the carpet, and you'll see a grommet going through the floor (see my gallery). Run the wire through the grommet, and tie-wrap all the way under the truck to the right rear (I enclosed it in that corrugated wire sleeve for extra protection). Remove the left rear tail light by accessing both 7mm bolts, visible once you drop the tail gate. There should be enough room to locate the relay inside the well where the tail light goes (see my gallery). Mount the relay, then wire the plug per the instructions that come with the lights. On the tail light assembly, look for the reverse light socket and locate the Black with Pink stripe wire. You can use an E-Z tap to splice into that wire...this will go to terminal 86 of the Hella relay. On terminal 85 goes the 12vdc wire from the fuse panel. Terminal 30 is the Blue wire that comes with the Hella lamps. Terminal 87 goes to ground.
Finish it up by running the ground wire for each light, then plug in the spade terminal into the fuse panel. Set the emergency brake (or chock the wheels). Put the key to "run" (don't start it), press the brake and move shift lever to "R". The lights should come on. If not, double check all connections. Once everything's working, reinstall the tail light. Wait for a dark and stormy night, and drive backwards with great confidence and ease.
It's really straight-forward. PM me if you want more info!
i think mostly american cars dont have the amber in the back from the factory. and i hate it especially on trucks since a lot of them still dont have blinkers in the mirrors. and im too far to see their sidemarkers its hard to notice that they are signaling and merging. especially since a lot of people always tap the brakes repeatedly, i never know aht some of the other drivers are trying to do.
but back to topic, i dont really like those it looks pretty cheap even though its not. get some lights and wire them up as mention or get the ones made forreverse lights from cabelas or any of the offroading suppliers should have them.
My friend once told me (Certified PA Inspect) That you cannot modify the factory lighting system in anyway. I might have misunderstood him. Anyway..if ya passed who cares...I once had a car pass PA inspect that had 2 pieces of PVC pipe holding the headlights in positon to aim them (Worked for 5 years with perfect aim)

Well First off...it is not hard....if you are anyway mechanically and electrically inclined...it is just time consuming. The Instructs are straight forward and are very well explained. Now I will tell you. I got a universal kit installed on mine and it is slow as hell. But It is faster then doing it manually and I dont have to get a taxi ride to the other side of my cab to roll down the passenger window (This is very convienient when it starts to rain while driving).
As I said I went with a Universal kit and it does the job. If I wasn't in such a rush when buying the kit I would have noticed that they have vehicle specific models which I would assume would compensate for the size of the window in their motor design. It is more exspensive then the universal kit but who cares if it works better.
The only thing I can suggest is go with a switch kit that is shallow in mounting depth. Because if your don't depending on your mounting location you might have to do some sheet metal cutting to get them to fit properly.
I got everything (Including my power door locks) at A-1 Electric.
I went with the colibri universal kit...but should have IMO went with the Electric Life...Anyway...eitherway is better the manual. You will also find some articles on installation there which are well explained. As I said installation is easy...just time consuming.
Another idea, just ran acroos it in another thread, truckaddons.com offers halogen reverse lights that are plug and play into the factory harnesses/ taillamps. Just another Idea.
