Has anybody tried one of these power tailgate lock kits?
How was the installation?
Are you happy with it?
If you have a brand other than the one that is linked, what is it and where did you get it?
I installed one. I bought it new/used off ebay. It was never installed. It worked great for a while, but then it got finicky. It turned out a little bed liner got sprayed on the shaft. I recently cleaned and greased it and its back up to par. It works pretty slick. Every time I arm my alarm the tailgate locks with the doors. I know it's not a guarantee, but I wanted to make it tougher for someone to steal my tailgate. It happens all the time. It was a very easy install other than routing the wire from my door locks all the way back to the tail gate. I think it was definitely worth it. I don't remember the manufacturer, but I don't think there are many out there. I could be wrong though.
I installed the Pace Edwards powergate model (part#LK370) that I got from a sponser, Realtruck.com. Great piece and works w/ the normal locks. You no longer have to key the tailgate seperately as the accuator runs the lock to the gate lever in the handle.
Runing the wires from the tailgate to the front driver kick panel is the big PITA but worth it in the end. Slick piece.
That's a simple one... I'd reason to bet alot of the aftermarket companies are sleeping with the major manufacturers. Why include it when you can have a far removed subsidiary sell it aftermarket. I know, conspiracy theorist...
I know the one in my post will fit yours as mine is an '06, so same truck. Looks like the same piece as mine but when you put the truck year & model in it say's no. You need to call and check it out I guess or get the Pacer Edwards one. Realtruck had them on sale bacdk in AUgust.

I had one on a Chevy. It was picky and came out of adjustment from time to time. I'd just go with a key lock. Otherwise, if they have access to the front, they have an easy way into the back.
I'm about to order the JimmiJammer Gate-keeper. It's only $22, and I won't have to worry about locking my tailgate. Since I rarely have the need to remove my tailgate, it won't be an issue. Also, I don't think a thief is going to carry tools around to steal a tailgate. Once they lower it, they'll move on to another truck. Here's a link to it:
Now there you go. Can't beat the price either. Or the 5min installation.
