Power steering leak

Power steering leak
I've read a few of the topics on power steering and a good part of it is over my head at this point. But I've got a 79 f150 and my power steering is leaking where the steering shaft is going into the power cyclinder, I think that's what it's called. I was just wondering if there is a seal there that can go bad or if something internally is wrong. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've never messed with power steering and don't know jack about it.

Are you talking about the steering shaft going into the steering box, or the shaft for the power steering pump that has the pulley on it. Regardless, a leak is a leak. I've seen a few times where an automatic transmission conditioner has permanently sealed a leak in a P/S system-quite amazing, and a cheaper alternative. Depending on how bad the leak is, ya might need to replace a component.
