Next mod opinions?

Ok, here is my chance to pick some brain. I do read quite a bit on this forum, and you guys have bailed me out a bunch.
I have a 4" all the way back to twin 5" stacks, a kwik filter, wicked wheel, and a 4 bank Bully Dog. Boost and EGT gauges too. Very happy with my ride now, but everyone knows the drill, there is always more to be had.

I am wondering what the next mod should be. I read a lot about Jody's chips, and have thought about that, but also know a HPX or fuel reg mod should come in somewhere too. I have covered the big three, air, fuel, and gas removal, but what can do to pick up some more?

Thanks, appreciate all the help always.

how about getting fuel to the engine easier. if i were you, i'd do it in this order:

intank/prepump mods
pre-pump pump
pre-pump filter system
regulated return fuel system.

Check into some of the small cheaper mods next. A boost fooler/regulator before the MAP sensor, CCV mod, IAT delete, pre-pump and in-tanks mods, maybe a coolant filter, etc... Then if you're happy with the peroformance of your Bully Dog chip for now - go for the SS HPX and Regulated Return fuel system, along with a good pre-pump filter!!

Also you did mention Jody - so I gotta say - his tunes totally blew away my old TS chip - you can't go wrong with that choice!!!

Strokin has a good list - but you may not want to do all of them before you get a chip! Not because it isn't a good idea, but at some point you'll really want to know how it runs with a good chip.

So, if it was me (and it is, by the way!), I'd do what strokin_it suggests, but in a slightly different order...

in-tank/prepump fuel line mods
pre-pump pump
pre-pump filter
HPX (An HPX is cheap and very easy to install - and you'll be delighted by how much smoother it runs at low speeds, like idling and cruising around town).
Chip
regulated fuel return.

I hadn't seen the pre-pump pump idea when I got my chip, but it is now on my list - right up there with a good engine oil bypass filter.

Of course, before I buy anything, I have a few things to install, like an ATS compressor housing to cure my turbo surge.

Taxes are almost done.... then I get back to working on things I like.

Cool, although I was under the impression the fuel regulator mod was in the lines of the prepump and intank mods. Anybody have a link? I havent really searched the forums a great deal, but at 14K internet speeds, I dont get much done.
DP chips are starting to sound better and better. I get along with the BullyDog, and like it, but it sounds like the grass really is greener over there! I also have to pull my bed due to a hay accident, so the tank mods will probably take place then.

Thanks to all.

Oh, yeah! That is the time to do those mods. Much MUCH easier to reach everything.

In fact, that is probably the best way to set up any prepump mods.

And, all you need is a way to pick up the bed.

Sorry Arn, but i like Strokin's list order and here's why. The external regulated fuel delivery mod is going to feed enough fuel to those starving injectors. With Jody's chip i believe you're going to realize more of the total gain.
My list order:
intank/prepump mods (DIY very easy...3/8" rubber diesel line or Diesel Innovations kit)
pre-pump pump (Jeg's ...Carter P4070)
pre-pump filter system (Motor Guard MG-60 or equivalent)
regulated return fuel system. (Kirban regulator,Jeg's-6AN SS line,Dieselsite FPG)
HPX line (ITPdiesel)
MAP regulator/relief valve (BCDP)
CCV Mod (DIY very easy w/ 3/4" rubber line)
1.00 A/R exhaust housing wastegated (min.) (LIPD)
turbo master wastegate controller (Dieselsite.com)
Jody Flip chip for max versatillity.

Yes, but your list is based on logic - sometimes logic has little to do with the mods.

I did start out logicly - my first mod was the in-tank and pre-pump fuel line mods, followed by a Factory Tech valve body (hadn't heard of BTS at the time), finned aluminum trans pan, and external bypass filter. Added a cooler later. Etc, etc.

But at some point, I got tired of logical mods and had to add two that had nothing to do with logic - the 5-inch exhaust and Jody's chip. Let's face it, if I were relying on logic to make my mod decisions, I wouldn't have the chip yet. I also wouldn't have bothered with the 5-inch exhaust - both were things I simply wanted.

Now that the big "wants" are out of the way, I'm back to setting up mods in more logical order.

Oh, as for the regulated fuel return being important before the chip - that could be. Yet there is such a HUGE performance increase, I certainly don't feel a lack of fuel.

Then again, I seldom have it in the 120hp position (worried about my trans). In the 40hp position at half throttle, it runs circles around the stock tune. BUT, I definitely have turbo surge, so I don't push it very hard for long in high load situations in 80 or 120 hp modes (never noticed any surge in the 40hp mode). Maybe that it why I don't notice a lack of fuel - entering the freeway doesn't take long enough to run short.

As for surge, I have an ATS ported compressor housing and a Banks (yeah, yeah, got it cheap on ebay) 1.0 A/R exhaust housing sitting on my work bench. Now that tax season is over, I can catch up with things I want to do. Looking forward to it.

Too bad my truck is in the process of eating its right front wheel bearing - that will eliminate my tax return, and then some.

U got some "logical" points there...can't argue with them

Kinda describes my methodology .

It's a fuel tank R2D2!

How long to complete once removed from the tank?

Oh, yeah, Kwik! Very nice. In tank pickup? Is that a lift pump (pre-pump pump)?

I have the in-tank and fuel line mods - now I want to add a pre-pump pump and a pre-pump filter.

Then I'll worry about a regulated fuel return.

I backed the truck into the shop at 11:00 and fired it back up at 4:00 with a break for lunch and a few phone calls to deal with.

Arninetyes it is my main fuel pump, the only one on the truck relocated to the fuel tank - no pre or pre pre pump required.

did anyone mention a by-pass filter...? i know it's not a performance mod... but i think it's a good thing to add to help your engine live longer... that's not a bad thing especially when you start getting it to really make some POWER..!!!
