Hey people, one other thing.... I have an MBRP exhaust system on my truck with a cat 'test' pipe, which everyone says sounds like a jet at idle. Recently,
several times I have noticed if my truck sits for several days, when I first fire the truck, it sounds like a normally aspirated gasser for several minutes until it warms up, like it is making no boost. After it warms up, the 'jet' whistle is back, and the throttle feels responsive, like boost has returned. I am just wondering if the VGT is sticking... anyone else encountered this??
my truck also does the same thing. Its just doesnt wanna run when u start it up after sitting overnight. No matter how warm it is, it wants to putter and choke until it gets warm. Whats the VGT? how do i fix this if thats what it is? thanks
This VGT has vanes that control boost. Under some circumstances the vanes can get stuck by carbon build-up or rust if it sits long enough. If they get stuck open it under or no boosts, if it gets stuck closed it can over-boost. Take it in and let them fix it, usually needs to be replaced. The best prevention is to not let your truck sit for long periods of time.
