I'm putting the stock steel wheels back on my truck, getting rid of those funky aftermarket 'mags' the previous owner put on... I've got some great dog dish hubcaps and chrome beauty rings to dress it up.
Question...
Is powder coating worth the expense, or just go with spray paint? I was told there is a spray paint specifically made for wheels, but I also have read that powder coating is virtually indestructible. Your thoughts and experiences are appreciated.

I have used powder coating on bicycle frames and find it vastly superior to paint. It would be ideal for wheels. Powder coating bonds right to the metal plus it is way thicker than paint so it smooths out imperfections. Have the wheels sand blasted and powder coated and you will be very pleased with the result.
Makes a very durable finish that won't sag or run like paint does if it is layed on too thick. There is a process to it- if done correctly, it really looks nicer than any paint could.
Found a guy here locally, does restorations... will sandblast and powdercoat in my choice of color for $50 a wheel. I'll post some pics when we're done.
