Well it happened to me small town about 900 people truck setting in driveway
in the house about 15 min. go back out side to leave truck gone yes key in
truck 04 screw hope they find it in good shape no matter were you are at
take your keys out
I agree on taking the keys, I need to get in this habit more often. Some of my neighbors lock their car doors in their driveway, and I just can't come to that (yet anyway)
Having your vehicle stolen is one of the most sickening feelings one can have. I had my 66 GT FAIRLANE stolen in the early 70's. I hope you get your truck back in the same condition as you left it. Best of luck.
I live in the Seattle area and one thing we see here is people stealing cars/trucks as they idle in the drive way on a cold morning warming up. One guy was killed recently when he was returning to his car as it was warming up in the drive way only to find some guy trying to steal the car out from under his nose. Ran the guy over. We have to lock doors and definately take the keys inside.
good luck.. I had mine stolen as well back in november. had the keys in the truck...bunch of espanols came in the middle of the night and stole mine and my bros car. I got it back...all banged up..got it back after fixing everything up Good luck
Hope you get your truck back a-ok! I'll leave my truck running in the driveway but I lock the doors and I have a spare key in my wallet that'll ONLY unlock the doors.
I never had my vehicles stolen but did have my $95K boat stolen. You are right it is sickening. Got it back in striped condition, it was a total loss! Talk about bad feelings. Well it was replaced but it is always at the expense of the victim! Good luck, hope it is retrieved in the same condition you left it in!

When i first got it back, I had intentions of selling the truck....I didnt want to own a vehicle that was stolen. But I think I grew more attached to it since I went through hell with the truck. Ever since then, I tried to change the look of my truck so that A) just in case these fools dealt drugs or committed crime in my truck that it wont be recognizable by others B) it deserves some pampering

By no means do I intend to sound harsh, but you note that "some of your neighbors lock their doors in their driveway"?! Maybe it's because I live in the city (outside of Wash. DC) but I just assumed this was a common practice EVERYWHERE.
When I had my Isuzu Rodeo, I actually locked the doors and took the keys out when it is in my garage! I guess I just can't comprehend that small town feeling. In my county alone last year, we had more car thefts than the entire state of VA. Unfortunetly, now I can't get both my '05 Screw and my motorcycle in the garage at the same time, so I am forced to leave my truck in the driveway - doors locked, alarm on, pistol in my bedstand drawer. All I can do is hope for the best.
Cullenkyla, I hope you get your truck back and in one piece.
Hope you get it back in good shape or not at all! Not to give you a bad feeling but the recovered stolens I see are usually driven hard and messed up. The thugs that take them don't care what they do to them. They usually drive them hard, especially if the police are trying to stop them!
I got my truck stolen with only 1200 miles on it..got it back and it read 1500....They ran out of gas and left it on a side road...and guess what I found in the bed? A 3 gallon gas container....you are not going very far with 3 gallons in our trucks...they were too cheap to even pay for gas...steal an integra next time damn espanols
Not to sound harsh or anything, but have you actually told your insurance company that you had left the keys in the truck?
Or did you omit that "little important" detail?
Insurance companies assume that you will actually do the MINIMUM required to protect your vehicle, which means don't leave the keys in it and the door open.
It's people like you that contribute to higher premiums for all of us.
It's pretty basic common sense to not leave your keys in the vehicle and lock your doors. Otherwise, expect it to be stolen or taken for a joyride. Pretty basic stuff.

I'm not saying it doesn't suck, but i'm gonna join the club in saying you kinda had it coming.
I have an 06, parked in my drive way, Viper alarm with tilt, motion, glass, and shock sensor. Ignition killer, and 2 way paging system. I don't walk in my house for 30 seconds without arming it. I dont' walk away from the truck without locking it for that matter.
And if you're gonna let it warm up on cold days, spend the 200 bucks on the remote start! Save yourself 30+ grand on a truck.

I agree with powerdude and awu. I wouldn't even think of not locking my truck. Keys in left in my truck? Forget about it! Always lock it up and take the keys with you.
