Well i wasn't saying we live in a perfect world. Or that you made my insurance premiums go up, i'm just saying what you said in the end of your post. Take the keys out.
Anywho, good luck getting it back, or a replacement.
Well I don't know about all of you, but it would sure be a real nice pleasure catching the SOB hopping up in to your ride when you then run up and lay one hell of a sick beating on the fool. Make him think twice about his carrier choice!
The truck will be fine Cullen, and I’m sure you have learnt your lesson.
You have a damn right to leave the doors unlocked and keys in it. Is it his fault? C'mon, you are defending the acts of the criminal, the jackass who goes on to someone elses property and takes what is not theirs. Because you left your keys in the truck, that is not the issue folks. I'm not naive, I know there are bad people everywhere, but give me a break, I'm not going to beat up the victim because it was easier for the thief to do his dirty work. Whether they are huey and duey and hotwired it, or had high tech equipment, or used your own key the crime is still the crime. If you write it off as the victims problem, you have issues of your own.
And yes, I don't make it a habit of locking my doors in my own driveway. If the dogs don't see you I will, and if your hands are on my truck, they'll be a 12 gauge pointed at you
If you live somewhere that you feel you have to lock your truck doors, then please do. I used to live in an area that it was necessary. One of my neighbors chains his snowblower, to a propane line no less. Is it really worth it to have to live like that? I have homeowners insurance, I have auto insurance, I have them for a reason. It does not remove the sickening feeling of having some punk take my truck, but at least it is there.
By no means do I intend to sound harsh, but you note that "some of your neighbors lock their doors in their driveway"?! Maybe it's because I live in the city (outside of Wash. DC) but I just assumed this was a common practice EVERYWHERE.
You don't sound harsh, you have a different opinion/perspective which is cool.
I lived in the city, now I don't. There is a difference and its the reason I am where I am. If you lock your doors, great, good for you. I don't have to live that way if I don't want to. If someone is going to take my truck, at least don't smash the windows so I have the insult of glass pieces on the driveway to boot!
I hope you get your truck back. I also hope you've paid the thing off. Remember, most, if not all insurance companys will only give you what your truck is worth if it is damaged or stolen.
Say you owe $25,000 on your F150, but you have 30k miles on it and the Kelly Blue Book value is $15,000. Then thats all you are going to get back is a truck or car worth $15,000, AND you'll have to pay your creditor the x-tra $10,000 . Unless you have Gap insurance. Ask about Gap insurance!
BTW, it seems full sizes get stolen, compacts get broke into...

If you think it's your right, you are just making it easier for the thieves. It doesn't matter if you live in a city or rural area. Cars and trucks are stolen everywhere.

I have no statistics to claim. I know that if i were a theif, and i saw a truck with keys in the ignition, windows down, doors unlocked, vs the one next door with blinking red lights, windows up, doors locked, no key, and makes a warn chirp and flashes the head lightswhen i walk too close to it, i'm gonna pick the other truck.
I lock my truck in the garage and I don't even like to leave the garage door open. My wife laughs but better safe than sorry. There are a lot of dirt bags out there just looking for an opportunity. If I ever caught someone messin' with my truck I think I'd tear his head off and crap down his windpipe.
Hope you get your truck back AND they catch the guy.
I lock mine up tight every night and everywhere I go unless it's in my garage or I'm outside near it. Few exceptions would be at McDonalds or Sonic where I can sit there and watch it.
I just had my Ranger broken into last week, thanks soundwave for the link to this topic.
Hope you get it all back man, hope they catch the guy(s) who did it.

I agree with your opinion, And if someone is trying to steal my truck, in my driveway Well, Someone is either going to the hospital or jail, I could use the vacation.
