So I called Scott J today about my heads. He's almost done with them and they'll be ready to pick up in a week. So we're chatting about the mill and all that mess and then he mentions that my seats look like they could stand to be freshened up. He said it wasn't necessary but might be a good idea for the new build. Then he asks how many miles I have on these heads and how long I've run them. I bought them brand new and put about 1500 miles on them over the course of 6 months. Well he mentioned that my retainers had chewed the ends of the valves a little bit. This is due to a fair amount of valve float. I didn't think I was being THAT hard on the engine but apparently I was wrong. It's not the quantity of miles you put on an engine, it's the quality! So after discussing that I didn't feel quite so bad about my poor stock bottom end coming apart. Maybe next time Pro tries to tell me to unhook and stop pulling I'll listen. Or maybe not.
and to think... its only getting more powerful. i cant wait until you make the NOS a flip switch bc you cant turn the wheels fast and press the button, so you just flip it on and leave it there... instead of temporary shots of it.

Yes you were and no you won't. But thats the only way to do it, halfmeasures are for wussies.
Actually yes, 300 shot direct port. I have the nitrous kit already, just have to wait to get my intake back before I install it. I won't be able to actually use the nitrous until I get the new tranny built, new stall converter and new driveline. But I don't want to have to pull the intake to tap it later down the road so I'll just get that out of the way now.
actually that is why he has been wanting me to dyno my engine so he knew how much nitrous to add to get his up higher. Well just go for a dual stage, 250 plate second stage 500 dirrect port and you will be good to go.
I'll be around 800hp without it so I'm thinking 1100+ with the nitrous. 300 shot is about as far as I want to go seeing as how I'll still have to be running 110 octane to use it. But I can drive on the street with 93 octane. I'm just a tad under 11:1 compression.
Ok so when is Pro gonna finally break out his wallet and get one built? So that I know where I need to go with this new A460 block that will be here next week.
You'll know it when he does because you'll be able to hear in in Iowa.
When I get the $$ to build the engine that I really wanted to put in the Cap'n I'm gonna stick this one in a car. Haven't decided if I want to do it in a Mustang or a Galaxie.
