Which both do you mean? You will want to get rid of both the pressure fittings on the feed line. The one on the tank and the one at the intake of the fuel pump....but it is not necessary to delete the fitting on the return line at the tank.
DO NOT disturb the one with the smaller pipe coming out of the tank. that is the return line, and it's working under pressure. the quick disconnects are designed to be used under pressure (return) not supply (vacuum). so leave the small one intact you will be using it. at the inlet of the pump, i smashed the connection with a pair of pliers and then pushed the hose off of the coupler. it worked easy.
I discovered that the hard way while changing a fuel pump. It was dark, cold, and almost time for the parts store to close. Luckily I made it with about 10 min before they closed. Used the same set for the pre-pump mod.
It sounds like Kris was able to do it with just pliers... Or Kris were you talking about something else, and still needed to use the Ford A/C line tool?
I just did the in tank mod last week end and I re-placed both QC's on the tank & on the lines on the frame? I'm looking at issues down the road by changing out the QC on the return lines?
There shouldn't be any problems as long as the hose clamps stay tight. Might be a good idea to check for leaks once in a while and retighten them occasionally.
