I cant say this has ever happened but is it possible that the hydraulic lifters and or valves that were parked in the valve open/ lifter collapsed position, be stuck or stayed that way causing the push rods to simply fall out when the cam rotated to valve closed?
Got the push rods back on, and everything working 'better'. I got her started, and the miss is completely gone but I still smell some gas. I haven't ran it anymore yet, i'm still waiting for the right hookups for my carb, and vacuum. It seems to be better so far, not sure if it's going to shoot flames yet .
I reved her up, she sounded real strong. I have to check the thermostat though, although it's new I think their is a problem. When I reved it up , the top radiator hose closed completely. I know it doesn't have a lot of water in it, but it's not settling in enough to add more.
