Restore or modify?

Hello everyone, I own a 1969 f-250 Camper Special truck and had plans on installing a 460 out of my mustang. The more I get to looking at what the truck needs, the more I keep thinking of restoring it to origional condition. I am a huge hot rod buff, but for some reason am finding it very difficult to modify this classic design. I know it will take longer to restore, and take more money. I would like to upgrade suspension, engine and drivetrain while keeping a stock appearance. What are your opinions?

Sounds like a general resto-mod, or an upgrade depending on how you look at it. I have a 72 F-100 that's deep into a full modification, nothing left unaltered, fully boxed frame, hybrid 3/4link rear and coils, D60FF out back and a D44hd up front with power steering. Fuel injection on a 390, with the original NP435. My 69 c/s will most likely see the resto-mod treatment, maybe get fuel injection on a 300-6, maybe a five speed, disk brakes all the way around, and power steering. But, it will look pretty stock from the outside. In the end, it's all up to you, and how much work you are willing to do on it. I just don't believe in tearing something apart, only to put it back together with technology that was outdated 30 years ago. Why not bring it up to more modern standards while it's apart?

It takes a real man to modify something well and then drive it everyday.
