289 water pump question

289 water pump question
Hello,
Just wondering if it is possible to replace a 289 water pump with a 302 one. I know the lower hose outputs are on opposite sides. the reason i'm wondering is because i am thinking about swapping in the 289, but want to use a 302 style rediator.
