spout problem 302

what would cause the engine not to spark with spout in, but if you pull it out it then sparks. What will happen if you just leave it out.

The engine will run at base timing all the time if you leave out the SPOUT. I would have the TFI module tested to see if it is bad.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the "spout" you guys are referring to? When I here the word "Spout" I thing of the "Oil Spout" we used to use for the old fashioned Oil Cans to pour the oil out of them. I still have one of these. Thanks.

The tfi doesn't by any chance have any thing to do with the fuel pumps also does it?

Possibly, if it prevents timing signal from reaching the computer. Have you checked for codes in the computer yet?

SPOUT is an acronym for SPark OUTput, which refers to the timing signal from the engine computer to the coil, by way of the TFI module.
