Hi there,
I'm trying to pull the gears out of a '72 F250 Dana 60. I've pulled the axles and taken off the two 'retainers'. I assume these are the retainers as they have two bolts each and when they are pulled off, the bearings are exposed. Should the gearset just pull out now? For the life of me I cannot get them out. Is there something that I am missing or have forgotten????
Thanks in advance.
Don
The shop manual shows using a housing spreader tool to spread the housing until the differential assembly can be forced out with a small pry bar. It says not to spread the housing more then .020 inch.
