Ghost lettering in paint
I have a bright red 93 F150 that has had vinyl lettering on it most of it's life.
The paint is in very good condition for a 13 Y/O vehicle.
I recently removed the lettering and wiped it down with lacquer thinner, and now it shows up as ghost lettering because of oxidation etc.
Is there anything that can be done to get rid of these ghosts? Rubbing compound?
If I repaint, will they show through?

Sometimes, you can use rubbing compound and get enough gloss on the old paint so that they are less noticeable. If you repaint & prime the area and block it out, the letters will not show thru. Be sure to prime and block out, as I swear sometimes the metal substarte seems to rise up under these letters.
