timing case cover

timing case cover

theres a hole in the timing case cover.....does anyone know if you plug this up w/ a cap or screw in a bolt? Theres antifreeze shooting out of it....friend of mine replaced gears, chain, timing cover, water pump, etc.....thanks.....

Without seeing it, it sounds like he forgot a bolt. Did he have any parts left over?

In the picture in the link below, it looks like a hose fitting and a hose go there? You can see the fitting in the background and he just took the hose off and is holding it in his hand. Possibly the heater hose?

That looks like the hole where the dipstick tube goes, but there shouldn't be any anitfreeze coming out of it.

I think Franklin2 is right, it looks like the heater hose would go there. If you have the heater hoses hooked up and the heater works, then yes, go ahead and plug the hole. But if you need to hook up the heater hose to it still, you can find the fitting at NAPA or some place like that. I needed to replace the heater hose fitting on my 460 and I think it was $2 at NAPA.

P.S. I *think* the fitting is 3/8 NPT and don't forget to use teflon tape on the threads.
