top speed
Anyway, at 75 on the speedo, it's doing 70 on the GPS straight-line and I've never gotten much over 90 on the GPS which I guess is a speed-limiter of some sort because it's hitting 100 indicated.
Your biggest risk at anything over about 60 mph is the springs throwing the thing into a roll-over. Long travel suspension is just not okay when the kinetic forces get stored up in the springs. And there's no way the cabin is strong enough to survive a roll-over in such a heavy vehicle.
on the same road last night racing my buddies mustang ,not really racing but just seeing what i can get out of it he said 134 ! , i really didnt think it was that fast, gonna do it again with another buddies corvette just to be sure
Sorry...
On topic...I hit the limiter at 105 on the GPS, 100 indicated...
...no tuner...
...yet

Anyhootk, if a sleep .30 CD of a Porsche 911 can run 198mph with less than 400hp, I'd have to imagine a lot more neddies to push a truck/brick to 130mph+.
As for speedo vs GPS, it's all in the gearing and "revolutions per mile" of the tires. I have snow tires (Blizzaks) on and they might well be "shorter" than the factory stock wheels but I did run a GPS on a stock wheeled X and notice the same, distinct 5mph+ difference between the satellite and the speedometer. Who knows?
An X is made to carry 8 adults comfortably while towing 10K (sometimes more) lbs. A Cayenne is made to carry..... what? two or three people at the most comfortably in an "small SUV" style and still be able to say "I drive a porshe!"

Anyway, if you haven't driven a V8 Cayenne (the Turbo is no big deal, seriously) then give it a drive. It's awesome transport for four people and everything they can carry (or a couple of dogs) and it tows (with air suspension) 7700lbs and handles nicely. There's no option for a weight distributing hitch (it's a unitary chassis, so there's no frame ladder and rails to transfer the load forward) so it's pretty good but still a lightweight in Super Duty or Excursion company. But then again, at 100mph, it's barely starting to open up. It's quiet and it can compensate for driver mistakes right up to the limit. If you do take that test drive in a Cayenne and you like it except for the price, go drive the VW Touareg. Same machine, much less dollars and, for my tastes, a much more appealing overall product.
Anyhoot, I have the option to drive or own a Cayenne Turbo but still ended up with an Excursion diesel, much to the dismay (and repeated emails and phone calls) of the local Porsche shop where my company did most of its business. So it goes. If Mr Porsche gets around to restyling the Cayenne to be more appealing, if they improve the towing capacity (say up from 8000lb to 10,000lb) and figure out how to have a 1000lb tongue weight rating, then maybe do a long wheelbase version (for legroom, storage and straight-line stability) then I'd happily overlook some other niggling complaints and go with the brand I'd rather be driving. But for now, a Ford as crappy as it is in some respects is still just an unbeatable product in its class. If any other maker out there comes up with an SUV running a big turbo-diesel, towing 10,000lb and costing US$45K, I'll happily reconsider. : )

get over your selves diesel excursions are quick and much powerful then the cayenne but the cayenne is FFast.

There's a quote out there "Someone always has something faster!" So don't be so sure that your "Porsche" thing will blow the doors off of "ANY X"! You are right for a stock X, but not "ANY X"! lol Its kind of like me saying "My Mustang is so fast after all the work I've done to it, it will blow the doors off of any other Mustang!" Thats wrong someone might have made on faster.
(Not trying to sound rude! Just saying things the way I've learned!)
Out here in Vegas, there is a F-350 crew cab long bed lifted on 38's. it has a twin turbo cummins in it, and it pulls high 11's, low 12's at the midnight mayhem.(RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG)
That will keep up it most 911's (we are talking 1/4 mile only here)
Last I checked a 350 weighed more than an Ex.
"True there is always something fast, but as long as I am fast than you thats all that matters!" Chris
That 350 sounds preety darn cool!!!!! Do you know the guy?
Racer, there are a lot of people with Camaros, Mustangs, and other models that will blow the doors of a Porshe without even trying!
by the way industrial dude,
NICE TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's awsome! Did you do all the work yourself?
For the high speed stuff, I got my 427 Camaro.

Ive had 2 shops work on my truck the first shop did such a horrible job I had a more expensive shop fix their mistakes and that shop is Off Road Unlimited. Ever since Off Road Ulimited Re-did my truck I stopped breaking transfer cases, ring and pinions, and drive shafts. You get what you pay for.
