Front end squeek over bumps??

I have a 2002 Explorer 4WD that squeeks when going ever speed bumps. It doesn't squeek just going down the road. Probably not worth messing with but I was wondering if there was a easy fix?

Thanks,

Jeff

Welcome to the club.. I have an '02 w/ the same problem... I've been told that it's probably just the crappy sway bar bushings... I had posted a question on the forum a while back as to where to find something other than the stock rubber bushings to put back in. Apparently, nobody knew (never got a response).. otherwise, I woulda bought some and put them in.

I have the same problem in my 99... When I bought it in 01, the rear buchings were replaced under recall and I have heard rumblings of bushing issues in Explorers over the years. Let us know if you find anything out... I'm tired of people looking at me like I drive a 73 Cadillac because I squeak so much going over speed bumps...

Could be the shock bushes too.
I asked about polyurethane bushes here once and was directed to Explorer Express.

Replacement bushes only are there, a bit hard to find but they're there.

Slather some multipurpose in those frame bushings. The ones that the swaybar goes through. Wife's did the same 4 years ago. Really creaky especially when you hit those speed bumps straignt on.

Peace

Can you specify how you "slathered"? Did you remove the sway bar before greasing it?

Don't put regular grease on rubber bushes, it'll eat right through it.

It was multi-purpose. 5 years ago. Dealer did it. If worried about eating the rubber you could try some silicone o-ring grease.
I haven't had to pull the sway bar off since but I believe you should to grease them.
I do not know if the grease they used damaged the rubber bushings, just know they haven't moaned since then.

Peace
