is there a KIT i can buy that has everything i need to covert front of my '72 from drum to disk? i mean everything spindles propoton valve rotors!!! everything! finding stuff around me is hard to find or when you do its been TRASHED!! in my opinion just buy it new!! THANKS
Yes, John is right, A donor truck, '73 - 79 will have everything. Of course, you will need to buy replaceable parts such as king pins, rotors, bearings, master cylinder and calipers, but those you have to buy no matter what. You will save a lot of money just on the core charges alone.
If you get a donor ruck, you can have options such as power steering and power brakes added - - and it all interchanges.
that kit is pretty sanitary...if money wasn't an issue i would go with that. if it were me. that's a lot of coin though. Looks like a quicker install and all the parts are new or at least freshly reman'd.
not that there's anything wrong with 34 year old brake & suspension parts from the junkyard.
I purchased a 67 Ranger F250 Camper Special in decent condition w/ 4bbl and duals and a 1971 F250 Cmper Special w/390, air, and disk brakes for $1000 because the owner needed to move. I tried to sell the 71 on Craig's list to no avail. I think I was lucky! I like the idea of having a 390 block, spare c6 and everything needed for a disk brake conversion. I already robbed the behind the seat fuel tank to replace the leaking one in the 67. The problem is space. Where I live that is a valuable commodity so I am buying time with the 71 parts truck parked in a temporary location until I can figure out where to store it. I do have a question about the 352 in the 67. It has a 4bbl and cast iron intake that looks stock and it feels much stronger than a 1969 Ranger F100 360 2 barrell, single exhaust I also have. In the books I've looked in there is no mention of a 4 barrel for the 67 Ranger. Any idea of stock HP with this setup?
Also, How difficult is it to change to disk brakes?
Thanks,
Patcat
