All depends on how you feel about buying a rental. Sometimes lease returns show up as rentals- Hertz and Avis do a big business in company leases as well, but they all show up on CARFAX the same way.
I locate the Excursion on fordcpo.com and the asking price is $32,500 for a 2005 Excursion XLT, Leather, DVD, CD Changer, 19,500 miles.
I contact the dealer and he says the best he can do is $31,995 (BFD). I respond that the most I can spend is $30k. I ask that he value my '98 Explorer XLT V8, 87k, Leather, Moonroof, All Power, yada, yada, yada.
He comes back saying that my trade is worth $5k (high to me) and that the Ex will cost me $27,995 plus my trade.
I'm not a rocket scientist but the math doesn't add up. I ask that he explain it to me and he says the price is $32,995 less my trade of $5k, or $27,995 out of pocket.
What gives here? I counter with $26k plus my truck. That is far as I can go. We'll see what happens.
Maybe I should just buy an F-250 brand new through you and forget this used car nonsense.
