I agree i just want to get away from bulbs that have blue tint it makes it very hard to see in the rain so i'm looking to changing to a clear bulb and the fog lights are bright so i'm going to give the headlights a try.

Looking to try the Nighthawks too. Anyone know where to buy them locally? The G.E. website wasn't much help - mostly distributors. All the local auto stores near me, Advance. AutoZone etc. sell the Sylvania Silverstars.

Also, seing as the wattage is increasing a bit, FIREMAN, have you checked them to see if they are running cool & no problems? Wouldn't want to see a socket melt or the light enclosure blister or anything like that.

Next I'll be looking for some replacement bulbs for my Craftsman Lawn Tractor. It'll be snowing soon, and the stock bulbs in these things are almost useless.

Thanks

I don't believe the Nighthawks are higher wattage. Not advertised anyway. I just tried the Nighthawks and they are definately brighter than OE bulbs, they are avialable around here at Walmart. It took a while before I found a set with a consistent coating on the tips. If you can't find them the Xtravisions (also Sylvania, should be available wherever Silverstars are) are pretty close, the Nighthaks might be a little bit brighter.

I had to take the Nighthawks out because, along with my upgraded harness, I was getting flashed. They seem to change the beam pattern a bit and throw off more glare for oncomming traffic. The Sylvania seem to hold the factory beam pattern a bit better. YMMV

I believe they use a 8XX series bulb. Many of them are interchangealbe. Should be 20 watts OE, you'd probably be OK going up to 35 watts if it's cold out. The original lights are there more for you to be seen than see for yourself.

I am going to have to give those GE Nighthawks a try myself. My truck still has the OE headlamps in it and I'm just not satisified with the light that I'm getting anymore. I drive through some pretty dark areas on a regular basis and it's just not as bright as I'd like.

Well I just blew a foglight bulb the other day (damn bulbs only lasted 6 1/2 years) and figured I'd replace the pair as they're always on when the headlights are. Not that they are useless, but certainly could use some improvement. I don't want the HID look & they say the 'blue' lights aren't great in adverse weather, so I'm looking for something a bit brighter and where to buy these things. I don't think my local Walmart has them.
