To do a KOEO test first warm up the engine. Then turn off the engine and attach a jumper wire. Restart engine and the light will flash 4 for an 8 cyl. Right after this, depress the brake and release, if you have the 5.0L with P/S switch, move the steering wheel about 1/4 turn in either direction then back to where you started. Then momentarily go to wide open throttle and back to idle. Then get ready to read the codes."
I did this test and only got 4 flashes for my 8 cyl. Is it a must to do the brake, steer and throttle procedures, could I have trouble codes I don't know about?
1993 F-150 5.0.
There should be four flashes for the engine code, then a single code telling you to goose the throttle and turn the steering wheel and push the brake pedal. Then it should begin blinking codes soon after that.
My book says to do the Brake and P/S right after the engine ID, then wait for the single flash. Also, if you have a AEOD, you need to cycle the cancel switch during the brake and P/S or you'll get a 632.
There is but my instructions say to do the Brake, P/S and O/D switch(if equiped) immediately after the Engine ID, then wait for the Single Flash for the "goose" test.
Just got run for 5 minutes then checked codes, turned wheel, brake and throttle, it took about a minute before the lite started flashing.
KOEO
636 TOT sensor voltage out of self test range
KOER
116 ECT out of self test range 0.3 to 3.7 volts
311 Thermactor air system inoperative (right side)
538 Insufficient RPM change during KOER dynamic response test/ Operator error
632 Overdrive cancel switch not changing state (E4OD)
Don't think i need to worry about codes 538, 632. Can i get the other codes with only a fuel problem? Idles fine after it warms up, runs rich and has sooty plugs. Whats a tot?
