Oh, my bad. I thought they changed at the same time. Man, i've been giving out a lot of misinfo, thanks for correcting me!
Like Cap said, no biggie... we've all done a little poop-spreading.
When DID the 5.4 get PI heads? Wasn't it like back in '99 ?
And I'm not even sure the "PI" V10 heads are the exact same configuration as the 5.4L "PI" heads.
PI stood for Performance Improved on the 4.6L's, and the 5.4 got the heads either around the same time or shortly thereafter. PI's showed up in the Stang 4.6L in '99.
Being the different animal the V10 is, IS the V10 "PI" head the same configuration as the 5.4?
The way I see it:
1) 4.6L PI heads in '99 on stang
2) 5.4L PI heads shortly thereafter (and the rest of the 4.6L's later still).
3) V10 PI heads in '00 (late '00 ? My '01 was a "for sure" for the entire MY)
4) 5.4L 3-valve in 2004 (w/vvt at the same time?)
5) V10 3-valve in 2005 (no vvt)
6) 4.6L 3-valve in stang
Make a VVT V10, with EXISTING PARTS, and Ford would easily have an emissions-happy, powerful machine.
Can't remember.. stuff.. heh. I wasn't offended or anything captchas, correcting me is fine by me if i give out wrong info. When i posted i meant to say my '00 5.4 had the PI heads, though i'm not sure exactly when it started, i'm pretty sure it was '00.
I just always assumed (i know..) that the v10 and v8's had basically the same heads and time table of changes as they were 'modular'. 4v dohc vvt vct 6.8 v10?? mmmm
