I finally saw one in real life. Every truck I've had a chance to, I've looked at, including junkyards, and have never even seen one. Well last Sunday I bought a rusty 78 F-150 Lariat. First thing I did when I got in was look at the passenger visor, and sure enough, there's a mirror. But it's broke . It appears there is a flip up lid which is missing. My question is, is there any hope at all to find one? I don't think there are any aftermarket parts, and my junkyard luck has been zero for one.
It was a stand alone option, I ordered it on a 78 F-150 Custom. The salesman told me I should get it. Was real cheap, but rarely thought of at that time. Still have the truck and the mirror is perfect. Don
There were a few on ebay last week, You have to watch the price they go for though. They seem to bring a high price some times. Got mine on there last year for $50, but they look like new. Some times there are just the mirror and no visor too. Just keep looking one will come up. Erv
Brown 4x4 Don't forget to check your local yards for 78+79 Lincoln Town cars and Mark V's alot of people don't realize the vanities in the visores are the same package. It's the actual visor that is different from the truck.I have a couple "donor'' visors so if you don't find one email me personally if your interested.
I think all I need is the lid. The light didn't work but I didn't take any time to play with it, and the truck isn't with me right now. So you're saying the mirror/lid should be the same as a late 70's car?
I wonder why it wasn't a more popular option. I found the dealer price sheet in the glove box, and no, it wasn't very expensive. The only real expensive options I saw were the 400, Lariat package, and air conditioning; and this truck's pretty well loaded. Radio delete though.

Brown 4X4.That's right the Town Car and Mark V 78+79 lid and mirror and the whole guts of the vanity part are the same beastas what they used in our trucks that had the option.-----------On a side note---------
Is there anyway you could post here a copy of that price sheet I know I and probably some other members would love to see it.One of my trucks is a Lariat and I would love to see the different costs for what the different options where back then.Regards

You have to post the prices I would like to know what they were. Thanks Mike
I found it interesting that it cost more for power steering than an automatic transmission. Only a couple dollars difference though. $208.10 for the Cruise-o-matic and $211.00 for power steering.
