i have a 54 f truck p.o. said he installed a 62 292 y block but keep truck 6 volt pos. ground i have seen pertronix ignighter made for 6 volt pos. ground for years 54 to 56 would like to replace points & coil would this be a good improvement or should i just leave it the way it is. thanks mike

I have never used one on my personal vehicles, but we did use them on our forklifts and they seemed to work fine. Some people comment their vehicles start and run better with the pertronix. But your truck should work fine also with the original points system if the points are in good shape, and the bearings in the distributor are not sloppy.
