Can anybody tell me where to get parts online for old distributers? I have an old prestolite distributer that I need a little plastic insulator for and am not having any luck finding it. I've cobbled it together several times but it let me down yesterday at a very bad time.Any help would be appreciated. Jim
I do know the old jeeps used continental engines, as well as yale forklifts and possibly other types of old farm equipment.
I looked up the local parts stores, and they sell dist caps and points sets for the old jeeps, but no complete distributor and no oddball little parts.
Will some of this other equipment distributors work for you? I don't know, but your only hope is going to try to find a place that deals in antique stuff and possibly it uses the same distributor as you have.
P.S. I just did a "continental f163" search on ebay and there is a ignition cap and rotor on there, as well as some engine bearings and stuff. They also list something pertaining to that engine for a Clark forklift, so you could possibly find your local Clark forklift dealer and see if they have the parts you need.
I also just typed in "prestolite distributor" in the ebay search box and got some more interesting hits.
Thanks Dave I've done quite a bit of searching and have not had a lot of luck. I'm going to try and make the insulator out of a piece of nylon I have. I've never tried machining any kind of plastic.I did find out that I can get a replacement distributer that is electronic, I believe that it was made by a company called Pertronic???? Maybe anyhow it is about 300.00 but I guess it works great.I'll let you know how I make out making my insulator. Thanks for all your help. Jim
