I thought the Pioneer speakers behind the stick were a cool idea. Ive always wondered what speaker upgrades could be made in a regular cab. Ive got a supercab and am currently looking for a Tremor-type setup. now if only I had money to do so now....
I dunno what pics, I just thought all the mods you did were cool additions without going overboard. I dont like it when people change too much stuff on the Ranger.
well I sure hope the police catch the low live piece of crap that stole your stuff. they wont be stealin mine anytime soon. its not worth stealin in the first place, I mean what are they gonna get? an 87 streetbike that weighs 500 pounds and doesnt run? thats about all they'll be able to get, if ANYTHING thanks to the guard dog.
speaking of theft deterents, i know a guy that had a ford diesel and the batteries kept getting stolen. They would reach through the grill and yank on the hood cable to open it. Well he got tired of it and tied some treble fish hooks to it. no more stolen batteries but some one sure got a surprise whwn the yanked that cable!! just picture fish hooks jabed in your fingers/hand while your arm is through the grill.. okay back on topic, just thought i would share this..

I sincerely hope those hooks were barbed, that way a doctor or outpatient emergency center can cut them out of his fingers .................
Actually if you want the box behind the stick you're more than welcome to it. I enjoyed it, but it got in the way once I started having to shuttle two people in my regular cab around. So when I did my last stereo upgrade, I removed it. It's sitting in my room now. If you want it I'll even throw in the 4"x6"s to go in it.
I got a little carried away tonight. Got home around 11:20 or so...just got done working again, it's a little past one lol. Pulled the entire dash, replaced light bulbs, added the vacuum gauge where I wanted it to be above the radio, anchored the mounting box thing for the radio down good from the inside, went to put it all back together, wouldn't fit, had to hack apart a little bit of it to make the gauge fit, put it back together, ashtray won't close. Pull dash again...put it back together, ash tray closes fine (what the...?).
I got some pics, I'll get them in the gallery tonight and post them here for you guys asap.
Proof the razor blade anti-theft device really does work!
That's all I got for now? Need any others? I can pull the radio again if you need, somehow I managed to make it slide in and lock a lot easier when I had the dash off, so it's simple now.
I had my B4000 broken into 2 times, so I decided to put a razor blade on my door handle. I made a little hinge and taped it to the handle, well wouldnt you know it a month later I noticed a pool of blood next to my truck and all over it LOL....
P.S. If you do this make sure you take the razor off every morning or there is going to be law suits lol
those pictures look exactly like what happend to my ranger except they used the back windowd then decided to steal the whole dash and cause my insurance claim to be over $2000. then they left the damn doors open and the ice froze verything inside
This isnt related to radio's, but another thing you can do to stop your vehicle from being stolen is to put a switch on the wire that runs to your fuel pump so you can shut it off when your not using it. Just hide the switch. Then when someoen breaks in and tries to start it, it just cranks and cranks and cranks and makes all sorts of noise, but wont start. I installed my diablo chip and it came with a keyed switch that shuts the fuel pump off. When i shut the switch off the truck will start and run, but really rough, then when i put it in gear and start to drive it it dies. Works pretty sweet. I dont think anyone would try to steal a vehicle that doesnt run.
Hate hear that it was broken into. I had an older pickup many years ago that happen to but was one of the lucky ones that they caught the sorry p.o.s. who did it and made him pay restitution back to me for all damages and items missing.
I kind of miss the old dash deign on the 1994 Rangers and before. Like on the pasenger side of RangerPilot's dash, the little indentation to set things on.
BTW, RangerPilot, I sure you came to this conclusion already, but Im thinking the thief is someone you know, especially since you've been hit twice.
I have a friend who had a full "boomin'" system in his Chevy 2500. He had the x-tra speakers and amp underneith the seats(it is a regular cab) and the radio had the detachable face. He kept the detachable face plate in his glove box . The entire setup was not visable from the outside at all.
One day he gave his brothers' druggie buddies a lift home and showed them his system, and two days later his truck was broke into. His window was smashed, seats pulled up, amp and speakers removed, glove box open and face plate gone along with radio. And the kicker was it all happened within in 2 hours. The thief(s) knew what they were after.
Yeah...the cop said it was probably someone I knew, and to look for friends who had busted up elbows, it looked as if the window was broken by an arm rather than a tool.
I actually have someone in mind, sad as that is. My last radio that was stolen, he ended up with the same one a while later. I didn't think much of it really...it was a pretty popular cheapo radio with the locals. If he winds up with this one and says it's new I'll call his bs, the radio isn't made anymore.
I love the dash design in mine. Easy to work with, easy to work on, logical, that little tray is great (made installing the radio easy with all the tools sitting right there). I'm keeping the faceplate with me now. Just in case.
Dude, sorry about the loss. I hope bad things happen to the thief. Back in the day('89) I had an '83 Ranger. Ryder truck yellow, American Racing 5 spokes, tinted windows, and a cutting edge(at the time) Pioneer pull-out tape deck. I was going to school in Cleveland at the time. OK, so I goes to a K-Mart near my apartment. I had the back window open and I notice this guy in a newer Blazer follow me into the parking lot. Turns out dude is a crack head and his crack jeanie notices my tunes. They wait for me to go inside and jack my radio in broad daylight. Yes, my bestest friend Kurt McCrackin(his real name, is a @#$%%$$#'n turd) jumps into his stolen truck and heads for the "East Side" for some rock. Since now there is atleast 5 witnesses, the cops were called. In the mean time my bud Kurt blows threw a speed trap on the HWY. Cops lay chase... Needless to say, they corner him, he does the boot dance on my radio and surrenders. Great, huh? I got my tunes back, but destroyed. Made no difference, stolen good's is stolen goods. I was told by the detectives that he was going bye-bye for long time and I'd never see any restitution. I asked him if I gave him $20 would let me go kick him in his junk a few times. He actually seemed amused by the idea, but wouldn't let me. I hate thieves! Now if there was some sorta finger amputating anti theft device... POS broke my vent window with his fist, gashed it wide open so blood everywhere, and %^&^$'d up my dash.. Oh well.
