I finally got my brake drums in for the front of my 66 F100 2WD. Problem is I need to get the hub off the old drums and onto the new ones. The paper that came with the new drum talked about swaging the new studs on there. I pounded the old drum off of the hub but am having problems getting the studs out and new ones in.
I can't find anyone that swages the studs. I called a guy at the local parts store and he said knock the old ones out with a hammer and set the new ones in with a hammer and all will be fine.
I figured the studs had to be pressed in not just hammered in. Will any local brake shop press them in for me? I tried to see about ordering new hubs, but no one claims to have them or be able to order them.
Any good advice out there for me? Thanks in advance.
We recently installed the studs two different ways just to see which was easier first we did the hammer thing, worked just fine. Second we tapped the stud in place with hammer then on the threaded side we put a spacer and nut then drew it in with an impact, both methods worked fine for us.

I am sorry I didn't see your post earlier I have been out of town this week.
I ran into this problem on my 65. I was told to never use the old studs as they used to swedge as you stated. The new style studs I installed only have a knurled shoulder were it goes in the hu the rest of the shoulder is smooth so you can take your drums on and off as needed with no trouble.
I went with the new style studs and they work great. I have access to a 50 ton press so I pressed mine in.
Well I started whacking them out on one hub before I noticed that many years of rust was holding the drum to the hub not the studs. I ended up removing all of the studs on one hub because I had already started before I noticed I didn't need to. I then replaced them all on that hub with new one.
I left the other alone since the studs were fine and there was no problems with it.
Thanks for the advice.
Looks like I am off to buy a torch and some solder to repair the hole in the radiator. New radiator is running 179, so that will be put on my to buy list later down the road.
I rebuilt the carb a few weekends ago and finally got that fixed and it now runs like a champ. Gonna do a radiator flush and an engine flush, and put in the rear window and it should be road worthy. Enough to get me back and forth to work and to the fishing hole as needed. LOL. Just got to learn the 3 on the tree pattern and get used to it being on top instead of the floor.
