Question Are Fel-Pro Gaskets good?

I have a 98 F150, 97 engine and 90,000 miles. I am about to replace the lower intake manifold gasket. I was going to order the Fel-Pro gasket but was wondering if this is the best gasket for the truck. Also since this is a 97 engine I am assuming that I should order the pre 98 gasket even thought it is a 98 truck.

IMO,I think Fel-Pro makes the best aftermarket gaskets out there.
Go by the build date on the decal located on your drivers side valve cover.Or,on the drivers side door pillar there is a build date there.

hi,vitas, i used felpro gaskets on my 1997 about 5,000 miles ago and found the quality to be exelent as recemended by my local engine builder. i quoted the vin number when ordering to get the correct set. cleandlyness is next to godlyness applies with any rebuild and you will not go wrong.

Fel-Pro

It is 4.2L engine and going by the decal was built in 1996. I will order the gasket with the vin No. . It has been 15 years since I have done any engine work and I wasn't that good at it but in those days there wasn't a place like this to ask questions. Thanks for the replies.

FEL PRO and ROL are the top makers of gaskets. You will notice they trade gaskets. ROL makes FEL PRO's valve cover gaskets and FEL PRO makes ROL's rear main and timing cover seals. Both are good and are about the same price. ROL is not available to the public so FEL PRO will be your best bet.

Can someone recommend a good source (good prices) for gaskets? My local AutoZone doesn't have them and can't get them, and the dealer wants WAY too much.
Thanks!!

follow up truck running good.

I have replaced the gasket, sparkpugs and sparkplug wires. Then the oil twice and added new antifrreeze. The truck started right up and seems to be running better then ever. I have only put about 50 miles on it. Just hope it keeps running that way

Find where the pros shop. NAPA,CarQuest, locals, O'Relly's.

Online at www.rockauto.com if you're not in a big hurry as in "Need it today".

Thanks, Steve. I don't shop NAPA because they are WAY overpriced. The local shops around here haven't been much help. AutoZone and Murrays are the big guys, but neither offer the gaskets. I have found a couple of online parts sources that want about $215 for a gasket set. Seems knid of steep, They also sell the head gaskets for $175, so I guess head gaskets are expensive for these. I will try rockauto.
Thanks again!!
