I am in the Ford AAA testing for a scholaship and have made it to state. It is a scholarship test for automotive students. They pick the top two people from the top 10 scoring schools in the state. I live in indiana so I will be going to Indianapolis in a few months. I was wondering If anybody had some info about the 2006 Ford Escape because that is the vehicle that we wll be tested on. I want to know everything possible about the car. I really need the scholarship money. It was a huge honor to just make it to state. I scored top in my class and am looking foward to the testing day. Any info would be great. I want to know all the comon no start causes such as fuel and spark adn what can cause them not to start. The cars will have the 3.0L v6 The problem will not require us to expose fuel. It will probable be electrical.
Will a local dealership give the school a demo so you can bug it and try?
I did that in 98, came in third in the state, missed first by 8 seconds. One thing to watch for-
If the batt light is on once you get it started, check the main power fuse -immedietely-. Don't do any more testing until you find why it won't charge. If you kill the battery, they won't jump start you and you will time out.
Yes we are trying to get a car from a dealer ship I plan to look the car over from top to bottom. I am going to use the wiring diagrams we got in teh mail and find ever fuse and wire connection involved in the fuel and staring system also the ignition. The key is also a good thing to check I found out, the have a chip in the key. If the key doesn't have the chip or if the chip gets broken then the car will crank but will not start. I know sombody taht had this happen after he droped the key. I am good at diagnosis I just hop that I can fix the problem fast.
