I have a 360 engine with a bunch of hoses hooked up to the intake manifold. There are a couple of hoses for the heater and one for the brakes. I know that the one to the brake booster is for creating a vacuum, but are the heater hoses also creating a vacuum or do they just carry hot air to the heater? If the heater hoses are vacuum hoses I figure I could just remove them and and that way get a better vacuum for the engine to draw in air and fuel.(I never use the heat anyway.) What you guys think?

Hi,
As Joe stated the heater hose connecting to the intake is suppling hot coolant to the heater core behind your dash. Your intake has a coolant passage traveling accros it to help (heat)atomize the air/fuel mixture in the intake. There usually arn't to many vacumm lines on the intake. A large one going to the brake booster and maybe one going to the dissy.

If the hoses go to the firewall on the passenger chances are they are the heater hoses. One way to tell is after your done driving it, feel if they are hot, if they are then you found your heater hoses. Usually the vacuum lines are smaller in diameter except the one going to your brake booster. Having just replaced all my hoses, I know the maze your talking about. You'll have to cap off all the ports coming out of the intake manifold or you'll lose all the radiator fluid.
