so im sellin my truck and the minute that someone is interested it has to break, when it shifts from 3rd to 4th gear it slips really bad and then it tries to go into the gear it slams it really hard and it almost feels like im being rear ended, and sometimes it will do it 2 or 3 times before goin into the gear. i was running an sct and i thought it might b the problem, but it still did it when i took it out.i talked to a buddy of mine who is a tech at ford in my town and he said it might b a sylenoid but i dont know,i was wondering if anyone has any ideas and if they will hassle me about warrantying it..thanks
I have got bad news for you. The clutches are going bad, soon it wont shift into the next gear at all. I had the exact thing happen to mine at 34,000 and Ford said F^&# You. I put a Suncoast Extreme Rebuild Kit and Triplle Clutch Convertor, it was great til today. Problem resurfaced after about 30000 additional miles. I do drive it hard, but I dont ever go to the strip with it. I run an Edge/Attitude and an SCT stacked. I dont believe there is anything you can do with this junk transmission. The solenoids are too sensitive to the harsh enviroment they are in. I am sure it will be just the clutches this time, but it aint cheap. My 1st rebuild went about like this, 700. Suncoast, 1200 Suncoast convertor, 1300 labor. Good Luck After today I do believe she will get sold. It was my first Ford, I liked everything but the transmission. My options on other brands suck. BTW I drove it always unloaded and never a trailer!
well i took the sct out and disconnected the battery for like 15 mins. to erase the memory, and everything is back to stock. so im hopin that they will warranty it cuz it has 33000 on it. and i wasnt even running the sct on a high hp file it was jst a street file, nothing crazy.
Good Luck with Ford, you will see a pile of them at the shop. They hace had this problem with many transmissions and not anywhere near all of them were chipped, they are just plain defective. Snap rings, planetaries and solenoids have all been bad.
yup big time problems with the trans in these things.. 2 out of our three 05`s have had to be replaced already..first had 5000k, solenoids and torque converter, the other 9700k, shift module and clutches... third is back for 2 weeks now for trans and!!! it`s 6th turbo....egr.. and who knows what else
well i got a call from ford today and they told me that i had a stuck sylenoid, so they put a new sylenoid pack in and it was still slipping, so they're goin to tear the tranny apart because they think that the clutches are burned up, they warrantied it though
My truck (05 350) is bone stock and is already developing an intermittent flare in the 2-3 shift at 20K miles. Sounds like I'll be dealing with a transmission failure here one of these days
