My questions are, what do you all think about this, and since I have a 5.0. H.O. engine already and the firing order is that of a 351w, does that change anything? Does the firing order have anything to do with the mass air swap? I know when I put the new H.O. in I still kept the same computer and it runs great, so will the mustang computer work as well? Thanks for the help!
That's exactly what I want to do to mine. Check what the firing order is for the mustang computer and I would assume you would need to match it if it is different than what you're currently running.. What I don't understand after reading the whole article, is why do you need to install new injector connectors/harness. You're using the same injectors right? If they're firing sequentially, then the computer controls that. And the second 02 sensor isn't required from what I've read on other sites. You can splice the second into the first 02 sensor and still achieve the readings the computer is going to be looking for. I still have questions as well though.

Reason: correction
I am not to familiar with mustands but I believe all of the 5.0 were H.O. in those? I am not sure with the o2 sensor but it does not bother me to put in a another.
After looking at the pin connectors, you could easily splice in the other 02 sensor into the existing harness. One other thing I found out is that the SD system, since it is "bank" fired, is that you need to have all the injectors running to their own pins on the ecu. Right now pins 58 and 59 control four injectors each. The MAF has them at pins 12(3), 13(4),14(5),15(6), 42(7), 52(8), 58(1), and pin59 for injector 2. I have another wire harness from another bronco and I'm gonna see if I can get the wires all seperated for all the injectors and save some cash that way. The local junkyards around here seem to be stingy with their info on what is available from any given mustang but I think I read somewhere that there are a few different models that utilize the same basic system. Cougars, T-birds....I need to find that list and go to the yard with that in hand so I have some options of what car to look at when scavenging parts.
I tend to try to make sure I have all my ducks in a row when it comes around to messing with my rig 'cause it's my DD and if I start something Saturday morning, it better be finished and working come Monday.
Ya, I think the overlay harness is $399. That is better then buying the whole setup from ford racing. Another question is, does the mass air sensor and the computer have to come from the same exact mustang? I know that the computer needs to be a mass air type, but do both have to come from the same car or could I get a mass air sensor from a 93 mustang and use a computer from a 92?
I don't believe the mass air meter needs to come from the same car. I picked up a mass air meter from a 92 Taurus. I still need to find out if it will be compatible. I also grabbed the fuel injector harness from the the same junkyard. I just need the A9L computer and some more research before I am ready to swap.
