Battery Tray gone

After negotitating a rough stratch of road, I noticed my battery tray had completely rusted through and the battery is setting at an angle. A check of the LMC Bronco catalog and JBG's web site does not show a replacement battery tray available for my 19880 Bronco.

What can I do? My battery is completely unsupported and there is nowhere to anchor hold-downs for the battery.

You might try a salvage yard. If not I am sure one could be fabricated.

Also might want to give National Parts Depot a try.

I have struck out on every web site I have tried. I have tried some salvage sites as well, but no luck.

Any suggestions on how to fab one?

Try calling Navara Truck and Van in San Jose California 408 294 0202 they have many rust free Ford trucks (same tray) and Broncos there. Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I do have an LMC catalog, but they do not have the battery tray for the '80 Bronco.

make a frame to fit a battery box for a boat use a couple self tapping screws or rivets to hold it to the frame the cool thing about using a boat battery box is it has a nylon strap that you can un hook quick with no tools and with the handy dandy cover on it it cleans up the appearance of your engine compartment. you can get them at wal mart or any boat place. I have had the battery in the fan a couple times this will keep it put. good luck Jeff

I learned form a local salvage yard that on the '82 F150 (and Broncs from 80-86 share the same basic parts if I am not mistaken) that the battery tray was part of the inner fender!

Wow..looks like sheet metal time. I searched all over and got the same results. Replacements for all but your year. Although there are generic trays you can bolt down to the fender after cutting out the old. Just may need some spacers to even it out so it sits level.

Any ideas for "generic trays"? I thought about buying one of those battery cases sold for marine batteries, cutting it down and bolting it in somehow.

Should be able to get one from your local parts store. Also check for BATTERY HOLD DOWN KIT. Some have it listed that way and it comes with tray and clamps.
