I have an 02 3.0l Ranger 2wd the boots on both lower ball joints are torn. I have a long drive from Georgia to Arizonia coming up so I want to replace them. I have replaced many conventional ball joints but I have heard these are a bear of a job to do and a press is needed. Any advice would help, a brief summary of what kind of work is involved. I am sure I can figure it out but it always helps to learn from someone elses mistakes. Thank you
make sure you have a long piece of pipe to put on the end of the press handle as you will probably need a fair bit of leverage to pop them out.... anyway.. good luck. i did both my uppers and lowers last year.
I was doing my front brakes today, and I noticed a torn boot on a lower ball joint. I overweight this ranger all the time and take it on nasty roads in the pursuit of fun. I'm happy with 107k on a set of ball joints.
