Than can cover a pretty wide timespan. Do you know what year 390PI it supposed to be? The solid lifter 390PI went away after 65. After that they were hyd lifter engines. If you know the year or can find out the aprox timeframe that would help.

I don't know much about the 67-68 390PI's. After 65 the PI engines became a little more tame. The 66 428PI was the top dog then and the 390PI became more of a economy engine in some cases. The 67's used either C6AE-R or C7AE-A heads. There were also a few variations in carb and compression from 68 on. I know the early stuff pretty well but after 65 details are fuzzy to exact specs and parts used. Maybe take a look and note the heads,intake etc...on the engine and post them if you can. In the meantime I'll see if I can dig up anything else. Sorry I could not be more informative.
