I have ford F-250 7.3 power stroke previously 26 mpg . It has droped to 14 mpg
no codes showing when scaned ,runs good, no smoking
Can any one offer advise thanks B.R.
I'm in canada so our gal. is 5 of your qts. the truck is as it came from the factory no changes ,6 speed manual trans ,4 wheel drive ,Average speed 60 miles per hour .We live in the north of British Columbia ,at sea level .
If you have had it in 4wheel drive it may be possible that your hubs did not unlock. Turning all that extra will hurt your mileage. Also according to some of the other post lately, you could have a fuel supply problem. Pump, clogged pump inlet, filter, ect. How does it run compared to before the MPG drop?
the engine runs great ,a little sluggish in the hills . travellig with the hubs locked in will effect the fuel consumtion usually 1 mile to the gal. the truck has only 65,000 KLM.'s on it ,I called a ford dealer about 350 miles away ,(the only one that seems to know any thing about diesels ) the service department think it could be the winter fuel is too dry for the warm weather we are having ,they recommend that I use a cetane booster to lube the pump and injectors

That would account for some MPG's. I don't think that it would cut it in half. Maybe a boost leak?
I agree with zx250....some sort of leak maybe. Boost, fuel , exhaust "Y" pipe donut.Maybe some bad diesel. Try some FP-60(www.lubecontrol.com) good product.
