Both ethanol and methanol are corrosive, -just methanol is worse.

Conversion information is here:

Your chip is being used to adjust your timing but you also need a different fuel map to make up for the ~30% greater fuel flow you need with E85. Running E50 would not require as much fuel enrichment. Unfortunately it is not only the fuel delivery and storage system that needs modification. There are sensors on a FFV to determine the ethanol percentage in the fuel and adjust for it. To do that the vehicle computer requires additional programming.

Conversion costs will never be paid for by fuel cost savings. Damages to an engine due to pinging or a lean mixture or fuel system problems from corrosion will far exceed any fuel cost savings with ethanol mixtures. It is better to just keep your present system in top shape and use the proper fuel for it.

Hard to find and uses more fuel to go the same distance. I'll pass.

For all the ones commenting it's my vehicle do as I please, well here I am, 4 years later, have only replaced one o2 sensor and the van's never run better, as for the negative comment on me, I only got smart to the person who left a smart comment toward me.
