Whats up guys and gals. My name is roland and im new to the site. I've got a black 57 f100 driver 272 with 312 tbrid heads, isky cam, holly carb, etc. My father gave me the truck when i was 16 but I lost interest for some DUMB reason when I purchased a 1971 olds cutlass S. I'm 21 now and I realize i've got a sweet ride with major potential. Anyways enough with that...
The one thing I am interested in doing is lowering the truck. It's sitting kind of high right now on some 16" keystone mags and goodyear wrangler tires. I've got the original wheels with the dog dish hubcaps and I am wanting to put a 3" white wall tire on them. How do I go about safely lowering this truck and getting her back on the road?
Welcome to FTE 57 there are many who can help you on this great site but for now you can go to articles/specs then to steering and get alot of info there.
I imagine a dropped front axle is your easiest way to lower the front or you may try removing some springs. Of course you could always go full tilt and install an IFS. As mentioned above, check the tech articles on suspensions as they discuss several options. In the rear you could also remove some springs or flip the axle or change the rear suspension completely. There are various options. Good luck and post some pics of your ride when you get a chance.
57f100, spring leaf removal is probably your first step. Search the site for much info. I am also in Tulsa, welcome to the best site you will find. Joe
Welcome to the board! It sure sounds like you have a sweet ride (the Cutlass is pretty cool too)
When you get a chance take somepictures of your truck and make a gallery so that we can check it out. We love nothing more than to see what the other guy has.
Again, welcome to the board. You will find the answers to any question you can think of...heck, sometimes they are even right
