radio

92 F-250 - Radio light comes on, speakers have static, but can't draw in a station,no stations or visible numbers on the LED. Took the radio out, all connections seem good and the antenna plug is in place. Any suggestions?

subford, that was a funny answer from you. no electrical diagram like you usually post on how to fix it? hahahaha

i agree, just replace it. if you do go aftermarket get the wiring adapter and the tool to remove radio with. the wires will save a lot of grief and the removal tool i have used many times since i bought a set.

$50 is a little high for a bad stereo.. Spend the extra $50 ~ $100 and get a good radio. Make sure you use the wiring harness adapter. It will plug into the factory harness and then has pigtails that will match the wires on the new radio. The no display is a common problem and is usually just a bad bulb. The only static may be a bad antenna or cut wire going to the antenna.

I agree. I've got like 4 of those Factory Ford Stereos sittin around. They're a Dime a dozen. Just replace it. Or if you really like it, make sure the antenna plug is plugged in all the way, and follow it underneath the front fender. Probably came loose somewhere.

changeouts

Thanks for your response. Is the truck prewired if I use a Ford replacement radio with a compact disc player? The current radio has AM/ FM no disc player? Does anyone know if models '92 - '06 are the same wiring?
If I don't fix this ....I'll have to listen to myself sing, not a good thing !!

Unless you already have one, a factory replacement cd/radio are hard to find or very expensive on Ebay. Unless you absolutley want a factory radio just buy a new aftermarket one. You can pick the features you want and it will sound better with the factory speakers than the stock unit.
