I have a 96 F250 CC/SB PSD which has developed a miss.. seems to be more noticable off idle.. Truck still runs good, but to be expected mileage has fallen off a bit since the miss developed.. Truck has 191,000 on it and my question is where should I start to look for the problem.. Any easy at home tests that can be done.. or do I just need to have a code scan done.. my problem with the code scan is that there hasnt been a CEL yet..

there is only a couple codes out of the hundred or so codes that set the light on.
what do you mean by miss? while accelerating or what? jerking, laggy, slow, runs raggy until about 2000k when turbo spools up?
mine had a miss and i did a contribution test with my laptop and i had 4 bad injectors.
it could be as simple as an icp sensor, or injectors or a million other things. please be more specific.

Kinda sounds like a sticky poppet valve, once the pulse width widdens out the solinoid is finaly is able to pick it up and then that injector starts to fire....
start the truck, let it idle for a minute or two then reach through the fender wells and feel each exhaust port on the manifolds. they should be warm, maybe hot. If you get a couple that are cold you have found which injectors are giving you problems.
I had at first thought UVC wiring, but the RPM related problem leads me to a mechanical problem.
thats exactly what my truck did. then it would smooth out when the turbo was spooled up. i bought an ease laptop system and did an injector contribution test and i had 4 bad.
1997F-350, where can I get the laptop system? I would like to try it on mine. I have an IDI and 3 PSDs. And will probably have another PSD (all 7.3) before the end of the year. Any testing I can do myself will save a lot of time.
