Power steering leak

hey guys I hope you can help me out I have a 97 F150 4.6 auto 4x4 w/181500mi. Is it normal for there to be a small leak from the power steering lines. I have noticed in the past couple days of a small puddle under the left front.

Let me rephase what I said earlier is it common for the lines to leak with the higher miles? Sorry about the confusion. Is it hard to replace the lines?

skill life , shouldnt be hard.....buy from your local autoparts the book for your truck and read up on that section. It's always good to have those.

Goodluck,

I bought the Chiltons manual a couple weeks ago. I decided to look under to make sure it was the line leaking because it might have come loose, well it wasn't loose and I could move the line around a little. What a tight squeze to get a wrench in to get a hold of the line. Where can I get the line at the stealership or Checker auto?

My dad is a mechanic and looked at it this morning and said all is dry. I know for sure it has been like this a while, the front diff is wet. I even put my finger on it and it is wet.

I have the same problem

I have the same problem. One of the hoses coming out of the power steering pump is loose and is wet from leakage yet the nut is tight.
I could not turn the nut even to loosen it because I was going to try to put another O-ring on the end. I looked at new hoses and on one end theres an neoprene O-ring and the other end has a white, hard teflon washer. Im still trying to decide what Im going to do about mine.
If you fix yours, post here with what you found; I will do the same.
