I'm looking for the home of a connector on the driver's side inside the engine compartment on the fender where all the connectors are right by the firewall. I have an 88 with 302, so I figure any 87-91 with 302 should do.
It's a round connector, which should stand out, since the rest all seem to be square. I can't remember if it is one pin or two inside, but it is homeless and I was wondering if I was missing something.
If anyone has a second to peek under their hood, I would much appreciate it.
Ya, it looks like the cylinder shaped one on the right. Should be two pronged on the inside. I have the side coming out of the wiring harness, but I don't know where the other one goes.
It goes under the mass of wires that goes through the firewall. I was afraid to tug too much on it because everything is so old. All I could tell is that it has a big yellow wire and two black wires going through the plug on the fender. There is a big connector on the top of the fender (upper right of the picture) that shows trailer relay on it. It may go there but there is different colored wires on it. I will try to locate it in my bronco manuals.
Jem270,
If you can clean those wires well enough to be certain of the colors I might be able to figure it out. I only mention it because its doubtful that both black wires are JUST black. There may be a color trace on the wire(s) as well.
I will try to check them when I get home this afternoon. I looked at them with a flashlight last night. I looked under the dash and could not find any wires like that. The yellow wire was much bigger than the two dark ones.
I pulled and twisted as much as I could without breaking anything. It is hard to see because it is directly under the edge of the hood and my head won't fit.
Actually there is 4 wires on the connector.
small black wire
small brown (might be purple) wire
large yellow wire
large red wire (I had to twist the connector over to see it)
1988 EB Bronco - 302 - AOD - 3.55 Lim Slip 8.8- Manual Hubs and Transfer Case - BFG 32/11.5 AT - 209,000 miles
I have checked everything I have including wiring diagrams. I cannot identify the connector. I only drive mine about once every two weeks. I will let you know if something stops working after all the pulling and tugging I did. Good luck.

That's okay, it doesn't seem to be hurting anything, I just hate seeing a bare connector. Thanks a lot for the time and effort you put into it trying to locate it for me, it was very considerate of you!
